Friday Finds

Here is my second Friday Finds! I remembered to do it finally and it's all thanks to actually planning the post :) I hope you're all having a wonderful Friday and will be enjoying your Easter weekend if you do celebrate it. Here is hoping after this weekend Spring is here to stay.
1. This very adorable feature where 15 girls pose as Women who have been iconic features in Women's History. I love things like this, it shows girls that they can do whatever they set their minds to and also shows women other than celebrities for them to look up to, which I think girls of this generation need more of.
2. Marina Keegan a young woman with an incredible future ahead of her was killed at age of 22 in a car accident 5 days after her graduation from Yale university. Her last essay "The opposite of loneliness" was published and after reading it I knew I had to share it here with you. The rest of her essays and stories were published in a book by the same title.

3. This video you might have already seen, if not I highly recommend it. I can't say much about it because then I would give it away but just do yourself a favour and watch it, I promise you won't regret it :)

4. I watched Bloomberg Game Changers: Sergey Brin & Larry Page Google Full Story on Netflix. I found the entire documentary on Youtube for those of you who don't have Netflix but the quality isn't that great. I enjoyed this a whole lot, it's a great documentary essentially about turning a crazy dream into reality with persistence, hard work and belief. Also it's fun to watch this and see how google actually came to be what it is today.

Have an amazing Friday! Let me know in the comments if you watch/read any of these and what you think of them :)

Outfit Of The Day: How I Styled A Crop Top

IMG_5051
So I finally wore a crop top. I was never a big fan of them for daily wear but I love them for sunny vacations and such. However when I found this one, I fell in love with the colour and lace detail, paired with a high waisted maxi skirt it just worked.
Not showing too much skin, just a little peek once in a while when I move, which is how I like it :) So if you like me aren't a fan of showing your midriff a whole lot then this would be a fun alternative to try!
I kept the accessories minimal since both the top and skirt have lots of details of their own and I wanted them to be the focus here.
I can't wait to wear this outfit again once the weather gets warmer and sunny again, it is now a crazy mix of cold then not cold, storm, rain and wind. The weather is just as confused as we are this Spring. Also doesn't the skirt look a bit Coachella inspired? hmm? hmm? Did anyone else just scroll through their instagram feed wishing they were at Coachella? I'm making it my mission to get there next year!

Sunday Edit: Three

IMG_5067
Happy Sunday!
I woke up early today to get ready for a busy day.
Read the May issue of Elle Canada while having my coffee and how gorgeous does the cover look? Don't know about you but it made me so excited for Spring. Love the colours and Rose Byrne looks stunning.
I'm also trying out a couple of new beauty products today. I'm on the mission to find the perfect hair product to define my curls. I did lots of research and this Tigi Curls Rock Curl Amplifier was one that was raved about so test driving that and I'll let you know the results.
Also my lovely mom let me have this Sheseido Lacquer Rouge in RD413 that she got in a gift set. All I can say right now that it's a gorgeous red with orange undertones.
I'm off to a little adventure with a friend and then having family time tonight, which is the best :)
Have a beautiful Sunday.

Outfit Of The Day: How I Mixed Patterns

Spring Stripes
Playing around with patterns and colours is nothing new to me. I've mentioned this before but growing up my mom would not let me buy clothing items that were black because she would automatically think of funerals when the colour was mentioned. I don't blame her, our cultural background has instilled this in us so strongly (I'm from Iran if you were wondering and moved here when I was about 14) that letting go of that mindset is not easy. In Iran you absolutely cannot wear any colour besides black to funerals and also for something like 14 days after someone passes away. Now you kind of have an idea of where this black = funeral comes from.
So my closet pretty much has always looked like an explosion of colours and patterns and opening up my closet has always put a smile on my face. Lately though I've been drawn to including more basics, specially black, white and heather grey to my closet, another story for another day!
This outfit was all put around my striped top. I bought it in Zara last week and am obsessed. I want to wear it every.single.day but I'll refrain. I also didn't want to wear the cliche striped top, floral bottoms this time, might do it another day though so this houndstooth pattern was my best option of mixing patterns. I thought the hot pink blazer brought everything together. My spiked flats were added for a bit of coolness factor, did they work?IMG_5028 IMG_5029 IMG_5031 IMG_5032 IMG_5033 IMG_5034 IMG_5038 IMG_5040 IMG_5041 IMG_5045 IMG_5048

Emergency Beauty Buys: Fighting Acne

IMG_5021.jpg
My skin went from really happy to all of a sudden not so happy/crazy last week. I hadn't used anything new and it just came out of nowhere and seemed to be getting worse instead of better. So I went out and bought some emergency skin care items to deal with the mess.

1. First on my list was an old favourite, Effaclar Duo by La Roche Posay. I had a pimple the size of Asia on my face, and it was getting angrier by the day but as soon as I applied this product it started working on making it less visible. I'm surprised every time I see this product work like that. This product is however drying and irritating so I don't always use it, only short term and whenever my skin needs it. You need to make sure you are using a moisturizer that is NOT oil based when using this product, I like to use a gel like/water based moisturizer.

2. Next on my list was a product I saw Sandra mention in her recent skin care video and that is Avène Clearance K Cream-gel. This is a face cream that is exfoliating and hydrating which sounds like a great option for congested skin. I have used it already and I put it on overnight and woke up to bright skin which I loved! but I have to use it for longer to be able to give a clear review.

3. Last but not least was the L'oréal Carbon Black Telescopic eyeliner. I've never actually tried this one before but I had heard good things about it so thought I would give it a go. I have yet to find THE liquid liner for myself so maybe this will be it. First impression I really like the brush it's thin and short which generally means more control. I will let you know how it goes though.

What are some of the skin care products you rely on in case of an "emergency"?

Have a great day!

Style Post: My Music Festival Picks

Coachella
Every year I do a little outfit inspiration for Coachella or any music festival really. I've never been to one but you know maybe if I put enough of these out, one day my dream will come true? well I certainly hope so.
I've read about many different people's experiences during these festivals and I've learned that you want to dress for extreme heat specially since Coachella is in a desert and have something to throw on once it cools down a bit at night so that is where the kimono comes in. I'm slightly obsessed with kimonos, I have one that I wear lots in the summer during evenings.
Through my research I've also learned that you don't want to be wearing sandals, I know it's summer and you're thinking my feet will get hot but better to be hot than be stepped on a hundred times and end up with some sort of injury!
Also you want to take either a cross body bag or my favourite, a cute little backpack, this way your hands will be free to take a million photos, hold a drink to cool down and more importantly dance the day/night away! Speaking of taking photos (I'm assuming lots of it will be on your phones) if your iphone is anything like mine, aka runs out of batter in a couple of hours, you'll need a portable charger and look at how absolutely cute this on the go charger is!

My Fashion Picks:
Kimono: Boohoo
Maxi Dress: Forever21
Skater Dress: Forever21
Shorts: Nelly
Shoes: Topshop
Backpack: River Island or a cheaper alternative Forever21

I hope you enjoyed this post! I love writing these every year :)

Sunday Edit: Two

IMG_5018
Hello loves,
This Sunday is more of a relaxing one. It's very sunny out but still a bit chilly so not sure if I'll go for a walk today or not like I had planned to. I love refreshing walks but I have exercise urticaria which really is just fancy words for I get a rash and very itchy skin if I walk/jog outside while it's not actually hot out. It's painful and not fun!
Today has been a day of listening to relaxing music, mainly my favourite new album which is Ed Sheeran's, cups of coffee and tea, and organization. I am trying to plan posts and photo shoot times so that I won't forget posts like I did this week's Friday Finds.
I'm also trying to think of pretty new ways to store things and change things up a bit in my room. If I do end up with any DIY projects I'll post about them here :)
This nail polish which is Greenwich Village by NYC has been on my nails for a few days and I'm going to repaint them again with the same colour! So bright and Spring appropriate, it does chip easily but I mean at a 2 for $3 price point that is to be expected and I don't mind.
I'm also trying to get some life bits organized like a career and you know those minor details in life ;) only joking it's pretty major stuff so it's taking time and sometimes bringing me down but I'm going at it head on!

Hope your Sunday has been wonderful. Tell me what you've been up to in the comments I would love to know :)
